Hooray, our tap mats have arrived! We have purchased four, sturdy, hefty mets that are perfect for the carpet on the Empire Rooms floor. We can’t wait to get tap shoes on and give them a go! They sound great! Marie complains about no longer ‘having spring in her step’ and goes on to bounce-step speedily across the mats! She dances amazingly, with a real feel for the music. June and her family join us in the afternoon. June choreographs us a routine from her chair, like the ‘madame’ she is and uses some lovely phrases like ‘just do what you feel’, ‘do what feels right’ and ‘do what comes naturally to you’ This gives such permission and quality in the body and June’s love for dance shoes through directing other dancers and also through her musicality. We have so much to learn. Also looked at some great photos today that June brought in. And everything was filmed and voice recorded by the two Martin’s (Clark and O’Connor) – Janice Parker
