The Slosh

January 22nd, 2018

Marie wonders where her white tap shoes are from her Raymond Sisters days and would like to see theml; “to see if my feet can still manage to do it”. She also asks for a tap on her heel. Time to order new tap shoes!  We watch video footage from our end of season party on 8th December last year, the mass tapping moment, “It’s great all learners together” says Marie, and her brilliant take on our regular Mondays is “from small beginnings things soon grow if you want to and if you make the effort”. Such a philosopher. A lot of new music and dance today : Your Feet’s Too Big, Fats Waller;Johnny Maddox Tap Rhythms; Chatanooga Chooga – Klaus Wunderlich – “good for the time step, the right steady tempo”; The Lambeth Walk – “not an actual dance, doing your own thing, walking with a shoulder swagger, and an ‘Oi’ at the end, maybe some clubs made up their own steps”; AndThe Slosh – Daniel Boon’ Beautiful Sunday “lets get our crowd to do it. It’s good, everybody turning at the same time. Looks good round a hall to see everybody up and doing the same thing at the same time. We could do our own version” says Marie. Finally, went over the book content and images to get everyone’s input. It is looking good.Janice Parker
