“Joined by photographer and media manager Niall Walker who was in to get some photos of us all. We were keen to get great dance/rehearsal shots as well as some headshots to potentially use for press for October for our Luminate Festival Show. We chatted about Marie and Doreen’s careers to give Niall an idea about the women before dancing and getting some solo headshots.” – Janice Parker
“In Katie’s words; “Doreen is so comfortable in front of the camera, I love watching how she changes the way she holds herself and angles her head for the camera. Total natural! Marie looks great as ever but is always more reluctant to get her photos taken. Janice very tactfully gave her no choice, how we laughed about it. She loved it of course! It’ll be great to have these images out there and get their biographies in the book or performance programme. We were talking about how when both the women were performing dancers’ they were never named in theatre programmes, compared to now where every performer is named, and there is usually a headshot and bio in the programme. There is almost no record of who the Moxon Girls, Calder Girls or The Raymond Sisters were. This is one of the reasons why it’s so important to get these stories recorded and come to the publication of the book and the live event. Marie, June and Doreen will finally be credited for their work!” – Katie Miller
