Two bits of good news: June is home from the hospital which is brilliant, and Betty’s ribs are mending well and she was able to join us today. She brought in a book about Variety to look at next week. As ever, Betty was full of information to share, telling us a trade secret relating to The Beverley Sisters, how they used to put their own playbills out – clever! And, how they bought their backdrops from John Lewis, put them on stage, used them for their performance, then returned them to the shop! She also talked about The Andrews Sisters, mentioning that as they got older one of them danced sitting down. Great to know that the stars do it too and it’s not a compromise, it’s just different, and can continue to have star quality. And we talked about pies (again!) and where to get a good Scotch Pie in Edinburgh. Betty ended today by saying ‘It’s so good to get to meet with people you used to work with’. – Janice Parker
