“Our first meeting with Marie (pronounced ‘Marry’) Duthie is set up through email correspondence with her daughter Morna. Marie was one half of the Raymond Sisters. I travelled by bus to her home where she and her home-carer graciously entertained me, sharing with me Marie’s wonderfully neatly packed, labelled, and organized suitcase of incredible memorabilia. What a treasure trove and what a great meeting! Within 5 minutes we were dancing. Marie delightedly taught me a tap step on her kitchen floor and showed me movement from her more balletic performances. We also sung ‘MacPherson is Rehearsin’ to Swing’ the closing number of The Raymond Sisters act – in short kilts and fancy blouses of course!“
“I managed to film some footage, take some photos of Marie’s extensive collection of photographs, programmes and telegrams, and recorded our conversation. Thrilling! I left on a high.” – Janice Parker
